New Disclosures Show Dangerous Levels of Toxic Heavy Metals in Even More Baby Foods

House Committee on Oversight and Reform
Subcommittee on Economic and Consumer Policy
Abstract
The Subcommittee on Economic and Consumer Policy of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform investigated the dangerous levels of toxic heavy metals, including arsenic, lead, cadmium, and mercury, in baby foods from various companies such as Nurture, Beech-Nut, Hain Celestial Group (Earth's Best Organic), and Gerber. After an initial report, three companies—Plum Organics (Campbell), Walmart, and Sprout Foods—initially failed to cooperate but later provided varying degrees of information. The investigation continues, emphasizing the health risks posed to babies and toddlers and urging the FDA to set limits for these heavy metals in baby foods.
