Abstract
The House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence conducted an investigation into the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack in order to determine how much information the U.S. Intelligence Community had on the attack prior to its occurrence. The committees examined evidence provided by the U.S. Intelligence Community regarding the attacks. The committees found that there was considerable evidence to suggest the possibility of a terrorist act on U.S. soil and that the Intelligence Community failed to properly assess the possibility of the terrorist attack occurring.
