Abstract
From the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, the Subcommittee on Federal Spending Oversight and Emergency Management led by Senator Rand Paul issued a weekly waste report concerning the Department of Housing and Urban Development as they are paying "higher rent for Section 8 housing than non-subsidized renters paid in the same buildings." The report totaled the additional cost at being more than $3.1 million, with rent differences ranging from $2 to $2,900 in additional rent for subsidized units. The report takes primary issue with the exclusion of cooperative properties from being subject to HUD Section 8 regulations.
