Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs
Abstract
The Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, led by Senator Ron Johnson as Chairman, looked into Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the process used to regroup improper payments. This investigation found that CMS awarded tax credits totaling in 750 million to ineligible individuals. Furthermore, the report found the money would likely not be returned due to the ineffective regrouping and lack of an IRS plan.
