Proposed Restrictions on Access to VA Health Care on the Central Coast: San Luis Obispo County, Santa Barbara County, and Ventura County

Abstract
The Special Investigations Division of the House Committee on Government Reform analyzed President Bush’s proposed budget for the Department of Veterans Affairs. The proposed budget included enrollment restrictions and increased costs for VA health care. The analysis focused on San Luis Obispo County, Santa Barbara County, and Ventura County and revealed the changes would force around 83,000 enrolled veterans, including nearly 28,000 active patients, to leave the VA health care system.
