The State of America's Border Security
Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs
Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs
Abstract
Under the leadership of Senator Ron Johnson, the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs issued a Majority Staff report which looks into the situation of border security. The report specifically looks into the incentives that increase illegal immigration into the United States and ways in which the U.S. can combat this phenomenon. The report finds that the border situation is unsustainable, and that the United States must find solutions to deter further illegal immigration. Furthermore, the report lists certain ways to create comprehensive immigration reform, but acknowledges the unlikeliness of this, and instead suggests piecemeal policy ideas that can be immediately implemented to combat the situation.
