EPA Wastes Money Trying to Save Money

Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs
Subcommittee on Federal Spending Oversight and Emergency Management
Abstract
From the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, the Subcommittee on Federal Spending Oversight and Emergency Management led by Senator Rand Paul issued a weekly waste report discussing the Environmental Protection Agency and its use of early buyouts for its employees. The report echoes the EPA Inspector General's findings that approximately 12% of the vacant positions from the early buyouts were not eliminated or substantially modified which is a requirement for the buyout process. The Subcommittee states that this process has likely cost taxpayers approximately $1.4 million.
