Abstract
From the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations conducted an investigation into the 2017 Equifax data breach that involved 145 million Americans. The Subcommittee discovered that the data breach could have been avoided had Equifax been more conscious of their cyber security. After investigating the causes of the breach, the Subcommittee identified ways to prevent future incidents.
