False and Misleading Health Information Provided by Federally Funded Pregnancy Resource Centers

House Committee on Government Reform
Special Investigations Division
Abstract
The Special Investigations Division of the House Committee on Government Reform examines the scientific accuracy of information provided by federally funded “pregnancy resource centers” or “crisis pregnancy centers.” These centers were investigated by female callers posing as pregnant 17-year-olds seeking advice about unintended pregnancies. The report states 87% of the contacted centers provided false or misleading information about the health effects of abortion, with many misrepresenting the medical risks and inaccurately linking abortion to severe consequences.
