Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs
Subcommittee on Contracting Oversight
Abstract
The Subcommittee on Contracting Oversight of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs examined State Department and Defense Department spending on counternarcotics assistance contracts with Latin America. This analysis was in order to find out whether these contracts are achieving the federal government's goals. The subcommittee found that neither department has an adequate system in place to track counternarcotics data and contract management has been inconsistent with the growth in spending on such contracts.
