Nursing Home Staffing Levels Are Inadequate in Chicago

House Committee on Government Reform
Special Investigations Division
Abstract
The Special Investigations Division of the House Committee on Government Reform investigated nursing home conditions in Chicago following the release of a previous report indicating that 80% of nursing homes did not meet federal health and safety standards. This report found that 84% of nursing homes, serving more than 35,000 residents in Chicago, did not meet the minimum staffing level. The investigation found inadequate staffing was correlated with poor living conditions.
