Open and Unimplemented IG Recommendations Could Save Taxpayers $67 Billion

House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform
Abstract
The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform compiled four years worth of data provided by inspectors general (IGs). IGs are installed at Executive Branch Departments and Agencies by Congress in order to identify waste, fraud, and abuse and make recommendations to improve government effectiveness. This report found that agency management within the federal government has not implemented many of the IGs recommendations that could save taxpayers a significant amount of money.
