Abstract
The Special Investigations Division of the House Committee on Government Reform conducted an investigation into the frequency of physical, sexual, and verbal abuse in nursing homes across the U.S. The committee analyzed federal inspection reports of nursing homes across the country. The committee found that abuse of nursing home residents is a prevalent problem across the country and that many of these instances of abuse were only discovered after the filing of a formal complaint.
