Some Cable and Satellite Companies Do Not Refund Customer Overcharges

Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs
Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations
Abstract
The Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs, issued a staff report at the request of Charman Rob Portman and Ranking Member Claire McCaskill on how various cable companies identify and correct overcharges caused by company billing errors. They found that Time Warner Cable and Charter made no effort, Comcast and DirecTV provide automatic relief, and Dish has a prevention based model for overcharges. Additionally, the report addresses the work that the companies are doing in response to Senate investigation and what changes still need to occur.
