Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation's Involvement in "Operation Choke Point"

House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform
Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Job Creation, and Regulatory Affairs
Abstract
The Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Job Creation and Regulatory Affairs of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform reports on the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation's Involvement in Operation Choke Point. The report found that the FDIC actively partnered with the DOJ in the implementation of Operation Choke Point, and possibly misled Congress about this partnership. The report finds that the effect of this policy has been to deny legal and legitimate merchants access to the financial system and deprive them of their very ability to exist.
