Subcommittee on Federal Spending Oversight and Emergency Management
Abstract
From the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, the Subcommittee on Federal Spending Oversight and Emergency Management led by Senator Rand Paul issued a weekly waste report over its tournament concerning government spending waste. The report focused on its 'winner' which was a plan implemented to help deported people in El Salvador start business ventures. The report found that approximately $50,000 was spent on this program, and keyed in on the fact that the program did not explicitly rule out helping deportees convicted of U.S. crimes.
