Iraq on the Record: The Bush Administration's Public Statements on Iraq
House Committee on Government Reform ; Special Investigations Division
House Committee on Government Reform
Special Investigations Division
Abstract
The Special Investigations Division of the House Committee on Government Reform analyzes public statements made by five key Administration officials, President George Bush, Vice President Richard Cheney, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, Secretary of State Colin Powell, and National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice, regarding the threat posed by Iraq. The report finds that these officials made a total of 237 misleading statements in 125 public appearances. The report raises concerns about the accuracy and candor of the information presented to the public regarding the justification for the Iraq War.
