Congressional Oversight of the Bush Administration

House Committee on Government Reform
Special Investigations Division
Abstract
The Special Investigations Division of the House Committee on Government Reform compared committee treatment of the Clinton and Bush Administrations, issued over 1,000 subpoenas. The investigation found that over $35 million was spent on investigations, and two million pages of documents received to probe alleged misconduct in the Clinton Administration. In contrast, under the Bush Administration, the report found no subpoenas were issued to the White House, and allegations of serious wrongdoing were largely ignored by Republican committees. The report finds a contrast in the level of scrutiny applied to different administrations.
