Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs
Subcommittee on Federal Spending Oversight and Emergency Management
Abstract
From the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, the Subcommittee on Federal Spending Oversight and Emergency Management led by Senator Rand Paul issued a weekly waste report which takes issue with a program designed to provide business aid for Salvadoran deportees. The report looks into the ramifications of this program with respect to immigration as well as the criteria that will be used when providing this support. The Subcommittee finds that the administration of this program will unfairly reward those that broke the law with American taxpayer money, and that this may incentivize for Salvadoran immigration. Furthermore, the report finds and takes issue with the fact that there is nothing that explicitly restricts "criminal" deportees from obtaining these funds.
