Democrat Fear-Mongering on the Citizenship Question: Gathering Census Information about Citizenship is Not New and Should Not be Controversial
House Committee on Oversight and Reform
House Committee on Oversight and Reform
Abstract
The House Committee on Oversight and Reform issued a report describing past collection of citizenship information in response to a Democrat-led oversight investigation into the reinstating of the citizen question in the Census. The report concluded that the citizenship question has been included on every decennial census from 1820 to 1950 and on “long form” decennial census sent to 5% of households from 1970 to 2000.
