Treasury Department's Mortgage Modification Programs: A Failure Prolonging the Economic Crisis

House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform
Subcommittee on Domestic Policy
Abstract
The Subcommittee on Domestic Policy of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Republican staff investigated the history of the Obama Administration's foreclosure mitigation programs, specifically focusing on the Home Affordable Modification Program(HAMP). The report found that HAMP has not only failed as a program, but instead has the probability of harming thousands of homeowners. In addition to the past statement, the report finds that Treasury has aided in covering up the failure of HAMP.
