Abstract
From the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, the Subcommittee on Federal Spending Oversight and Emergency Management led by Senator Rand Paul issued a weekly waste report on federal employees getting paid by the taxpayers to do union work. According to the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), Official Time (OT) cost taxpayers $157.2 million in salary and 3.4 million hours not performing government duties in 2012. The report also states that in 2014, 386 federal employees performed no government function yet received full compensation, including federal benefits like health care and retirement.
