Abstract
The Subcommittee on Criminal Justice, Drug Policy and Human Resources of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform underscores the severity of the methamphetamine issue, highlighting its rapid growth and designation as the most dangerous drug in America by Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. While local production in clandestine laboratories has garnered attention, the majority of illegal meth in the U.S. now originates from Mexico or is controlled by Mexican drug trafficking organizations. Additionally, the global supply chain of pseudoephedrine, a key precursor chemical for meth production, further emphasizes the international nature of the problem. The report aims to address this international aspect and proposes solutions to mitigate the supply of methamphetamine.
