Abstract
The Special Investigations Division of the House Committee on Government Reform examined the impact of the "Disabled Veterans Tax" on military veterans in Massachusetts' 6th Congressional District. The tax affects veterans with both 20 years of military service and service-related disabilities, reducing their retirement benefits dollar-for-dollar by the disability compensation received. Key findings include over 4,000 veterans in Massachusetts, with almost 400 in Massachusetts 6th Congressional District, losing benefits due to the tax, costing them $1.7 million annually.
