Abstract
The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and the Senate Committee on Judiciary conducted a joint investigation into The Department of Justice (DOJ) 2009 strategy to combat gun trafficking along the Southwest Border called Operation Fast and Furious. The report states this strategy led to tragic consequences, including deaths, and raised questions about leadership failures and accountability within DOJ and ATF. The report concludes that the DOJ’s denials and stonewalling, along with their failure to prevent gunwalking, led to the tragic outcomes of Operation Fast and Furious.
