NSF: Funding Research to Research Funding

Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs
Subcommittee on Federal Spending Oversight and Emergency Management
Abstract
From the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, the Subcommittee on Federal Spending Oversight and Emergency Management led by Senator Rand Paul issued a weekly waste report on the National Science Foundation (NSF) spending $375,000 on a 2-year study to determine what affects the availability of federal funding for research has on scientists' career choices and scientific outcomes. The waste report investigation found that funding for federal research (adjusted for inflation) shows stable and constant growth increasing year to year, and that an NSF study is unnecessary to "figure it out."
