Election Interference: Majority Investigation Amplifies Russian Attack on 2020 Election
Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs
Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs
Abstract
The Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs and the Senate Finance Committee, on behalf of Ranking Member Gary Peters, issued a Minority Staff report in response to the Majority Staff report released by Chairmen Ron Johnson and Charles Grassley about allegations of a Russian campaign to interfere in the 2020 election. The report holds that the chairmen uncovered no evidence of wrongdoing by former Vice President Biden. The report’s findings include that the chairmen’s investigation was an outcome of a Russian disinformation campaign against Biden to influence the 2020 presidential election in favor of President Trump’s reelection, with no evidence to support the premise that Hunter Biden’s position on the board of Burisma created a conflict of interest impacting U.S. foreign policy or that Biden altered U.S. policies toward Ukraine, but rather the policy process was driven by national interest.
