Abstract
The Special Investigations Division of the House Committee on Government Reform examined the impact of the "Disabled Veterans Tax'' on military veterans in Hawaii’s Second Congressional District. The tax affects veterans with both 20 years of military service and service-related disabilities, reducing their retirement benefits dollar-for-dollar by the disability compensation received. Key findings include over 2,100 veterans in Hawaii’s Second Congressional District losing benefits due to the tax, costing them $10 million annually.
