Empowering Inspectors General: Supporting the IG Community Could Save Billions for American Taxpayers

Abstract

Senator Ron Johnson of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs and Senator Charles Grassley of the Senate Committee on the Judiciary issued a joint Majority Staff report on supporting the community of inspectors general (IGs) to oversee bureaucracy and save taxpayer dollars. The Senators compiled all unimplemented outstanding recommendations by IGs and calculated total savings if implemented to be $87 billion+.
