The Federal Government's Track Record on Cybersecurity and Critical Infrastructure
Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs
Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs
Abstract
The Minority Staff of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs investigated the breaches in the cybersecurity of the Federal Government. The report states that the Government has failed to implement a mandate to protect its own IT systems from malicious attacks. As evidence, the report uses more than 40 audits and other reviews by agency inspectors general, along with interviews from officials in the offices of inspectors general about their work in cybersecurity. The findings demonstrate the dangerous vulnerabilities that persist in the Federal Government's information systems.
