Abstract
The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology conducted an investigation into the 2017 Equifax data breach that involved 145 million Americans. The committees discovered the data breach could have been avoided had Equifax been more conscious of their cyber security. After investigating the causes of the breach, the committee identified ways to prevent future incidents.
