Abstract
The Subcommittee on Economic and Consumer Policy of the House Committee Oversight and Reform investigated the presence of toxic heavy metals such as inorganic arsenic, lead, cadmium, and mercury, declared harmful by the FDA and WHO, in baby foods. The subcommittee requested internal documents and test results from major U.S. baby food manufacturers. While Nurture, Beech-Nut, Hain, and Gerber co-operated and shared testing information, Walmart, Campbell, and Sprout Organic Foods declined to participate.
